Item Description
This piece came labeled simply as coming from Saxony, Germany with no further mine information. With that said, it's still a beautiful old classic example of these famous pieces from Saxony. It features sharp, well-formed, translucent, white / colorless "Blatterspat" (bladed spar) habit Calcite crystals meausring up to 2.3 cm free of matrix. There are a few contacts, but the piece is still in great shape. As you can see, it displays beautifully without the aid of a base or clay and has great three-dimensional form. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12708). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
