Item Description
Formerly in the Herb Obodda COLLECTION, not inventory, this piece was valued at $950. An unusual but striking and dramatic group featuring a few GEM quality, glassy crystals of colorless Calcite which are protruding from a notably compressed / flattened Calcite crystal that acts as a sort of matrix of the jewel-like smaller crystals. There is a strange beige coating on the termination of the crystals, but the prism faces are absolutely untouched with highly reflective luster. The piece is nearly a "floater" as I really can't see an actual point of attachment, but there's one spot that looks like it might have grown either along another Calcite or the pocket wall perhaps. No real damage that I can see with the naked eye, and the quality of smaller Calcites is fantastic. As I mentioned, this piece is from Herb's personal collection, specimen #3161. Hard to photograph, better to view in person.
