Calcite (ex Gary Weaver)

Item Description

This is a textbook sharp cluster of Calcite rhombohedral crystals from the famous mine at Naica, Mexico. It's an aesthetic piece dominated by two large, lustrous, slightly modified, off-white to grayish white, rhombohedrons measuring 5.5 and 4.5 cm on edge. Their faces have slightly recessed growth features that, on close inspection, are recessed rhombohedrons that reflect any incident light in unison for great effect! It also adds almost a pearlescent luster to the piece. These two larger rhombohedrons are stacked on a smaller pair of Calcite rhombs for great aesthetics and composition. Their color and arrangement reminds me of the Dolomite crystals from Eugui, Spain. There are several smaller Calcite crystals to scattered on the front and back of the piece and there is some fine-grained Pyrite at places around the periphery and on the back of the piece.
