Item Description
A classic and showy three-dimensional display specimen of the famous "platy" Calcites from the Ojuela Mine. This piece has beautifully isolated slightly layered "flower"-like groups of incredibly gemmy, sharp, lustrous highly compressed Calcite crystals measuring up to 2.8 cm sitting on gossan matrix. Each group of Calcite is like a little jewel and they sparkle against the contrasting matrix. The piece can be view from several angles and as I rotate it, I can't see any real damage, save one edge that must have grown against the pocket wall. Rarely does one find a piece of this classic material with such great aesthetics and quality. Valued at $1500. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #5164).
