Item Description
A fantastic large cabinet display specimen of Calcite from Charcas. These "poker chip"-esque crystals are not commonly seen from this locality, and this particular specimen is one of the best big pieces we've ever had to offer. Many large, white, tabular crystals of off-white colored Calcite (with darker coloring along the thin prism edges) measuring up to 7.7 cm across have formed into a very aesthetic group free of matrix. Overall the piece is in very good condition with only a little bit of damage here and there. It's very displayable and shows a wonderful fluorescence under SW UV light. Valued at $950 From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
