Item Description

A showy small cabinet sized display specimen of Calcite from Dalnegorsk featuring a single, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, translucent, flattened rhombic crystal measuring 6.7 cm across, aesthetically sitting perpendicular on the underlying matrix. Tiny sparkling "jewel"-like Quartz crystals can be seen sprinkled all over the matrix for a nice touch. The Calcite has bit of edge wear in a few spots, so it's not 100% pristine, but it's still an eye-catching piece with dramatic presentation and excellent crystal form. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
