Calcite (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

Here we have a showy and eye-catching specimen of gemmy and lustrous/vitreous, pale golden (nearly colorless) Calcite from the famous Meikle Mine. Fine quality, classic material and hard to photograph, and I would say better in person. No damage on the top/display side, but cleaved on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. Priced at $950 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. The label accompanying the piece states it was collected in January of 1999. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
