Item Description

Bisbee is one the great specimen-producing localities in Arizona, best known for its copper minerals, but there are many other species found around Bisbee that are just as iconic and recognizable. This particular specimen is a beautiful "doughnut"-shaped group of vitreous Calcite crystals from the Southwest Mine, with slight translucency when backlit, and a gentle warm hue on the display side. The piece is complete on the front and back, and is one of the most distinctive and eye-catching examples of this material that I can remember seeing from the locality. A great specimen for any fan of Calcites, Arizona minerals or specifically Bisbee material.
From the collection of David E Ziga, a geologist who graduated Miami (of Ohio) University in 2017, with a mineralogy background. Specimen #114. Originally in the collection of Joe Kielbaso.
