Item Description
There are thousands of localities for Calcite around the world, but the Elmwood Mine is one of the premier sources for the species. This miniature specimen is a fine quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, WATER CLEAR, doubly-terminated, scalenohedral twin with a gentle golden hue. There is a small amount of attached matrix on the back side of the specimen. The front side of the Calcite has a few separation marks where another Calcite (or multiple Calcites) once grew. It's not damage, as these spots are actually crystallized if you look closely, so they're almost like impressions / indentations of previously existing crystals. I can see one tiny nick along the edge of the main termination, but otherwise the piece is in excellent shape. Classic material and a true favorite among collectors and dealers alike.
