Item Description

A gorgeous, fine quality, rich golden colored doubly-terminated scalenohedral Calcite crystal from the classic Gralex Quarry in Belgium. The piece is VERY gemmy with good luster on the surface. There is a separation mark on the front the crystal, where presumably another Calcite once grew, it's not really damage, but the crystal is also not 100% complete. It's rare to find such gemmy, lustrous crystals from this locality, as they can often have more of a matte luster on the surface and can be much more translucent, as opposed to this crystal which is literally WATER-CLEAR in areas.
This specimen comes from the lifelong worldwide thumbnail collection of Dr. Alexander ("Alex") Schauss (#945). I would advise reading the interview at https://www.irocks.com/collector-interview-alex-schauss to get a better understanding of who he is as a mineral collector and a person.
