Item Description

An unusually good-looking calcite specimen from Charcas. The large, blocky and lustrous, rhombohedron monolith is nicely perched on stacked rhombs. Nearly all of the stepped-growth faces have a rich dusting of iron oxides, which gives this very sculptural piece a distinctive look. The specimen displays very well from either side and the monolith rhomb has only trivial, out-of-sight edgewear on the backside. One usually thinks of classic Charcas pokerchip calcites (see one below), and not this more unusual style. Ex Dick Heck Collection.
