One of the most vivid colors you'll find in the mineral world is the cobalt-bearing variety of Calcite. The intense fuchsia pink hue of this material is world-renowned and truly as eye-catching as just about anything in the mineral world. The pieces from the famous Mashamba West Mine in DR Congo are as good as it gets (every bit as rich as the finest pieces from Morocco) and this cabinet sized specimen is a great example of said material. The piece features a layer of sparkling, lustrous, saturated purplish-pink colored cobalt-bearing Calcite with minor associated contrasting green colored Malachite on matrix. A wonderful combination specimen of this classic material. The only real damage is understandably around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Valued at $2,250.
