Calcite is one of the most diverse minerals on earth, both in terms of habits/morphologies and the fact that it occurs in a wide range of colors. The various chromophores in nature allow for some beautifully colored Calcite crystals, ranging in virtually all colors of the rainbow. One of the most desirable varietals worldwide for Calcite are these gorgeous pink cobalt-bearing examples from Morocco, and the recent past has seen some of the finest batches ever. This specimen hosts excellent quality, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, translucent, beautiful pink color, trigonal Cobaltoan Calcite crystals measuring up to 6 mm sitting on matrix. The majority of crystals are all in excellent shape, though the periphery is obviously contacted where the specimen was removed from the pocket wall. Beautiful color, and very distinctive in the mineral world.
