Item Description
Calcite is a very popular mineral species among collectors, partially due to the fact that it is one of the most diverse minerals on earth. You'll find a wide range of habits/morphologies in Calcite, and the species occurs in a wide range of colors as well. The various chromophores in nature allow for some beautifully colored Calcite crystals, ranging in virtually all colors of the rainbow. One of the most desirable varietals worldwide for Calcite are these gorgeous pink cobalt-bearing examples from Morocco, and the recent past has seen some of the finest batches ever. This specimen hosts excellent quality, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, translucent, beautiful pink color, trigonal cobalt-bearing Calcite crystals forming a beautiful "mound" sitting on matrix. The majority of crystals are all in excellent shape, though the lower periphery is obviously contacted where the specimen was removed from the pocket wall. Beautiful color, and very distinctive in the mineral world. Priced at $1,200 in the inventory.
