Item Description
The Idarado mine is most famous for it's Manganoan Calcite specimens, in fact, the largest quantity of the finest quality Manganoan Calcite specimens from Colorado were found in this mine. This specimen is actually a plate of sharp, "milky" "dog-tooth" Calcite which have been coated/replaced by sparkling, iridescent metallic, Pyrite. Despite some broken crystals, the overall quality of the piece makes it a very good display specimen of this truly classic San Juan material.
