Calcite coated by Chalcanthite (rare locality)

Here we have an incredibly hard to find specimen from France that dates back to the late 1990s. Not only were the pieces limited when they first came to market, but specimens from this obscure locality are now almost impossible to find for sale. This small cabinet specimen is filled with fairly equant, modified rhombic crystals of Calcite which have been coated by almost drusy / sparkling blue-green Chalcanthite with individual crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm on edge. The piece is in superb condition, with no major damage that I can find. These pieces originated from an individual with contacts at the mine, which is now not only defunct, but reclaimed and protected from further mining by the French government. Gorgeous color to be sure, and if you're a Calcite collector I'll bet this is something that you don't have in your collection, so this is a great opportunity to pick up something that is virtually impossible to find on the market these days.
