Item Description
The Elmwood mine is sadly defunct but once produced among the most classic and recognizable of ALL worldwide calcites! This is a very showy piece: a dramatic, sculptural, floating cluster that is terminated all around with glassy crystals! The main and largest calcite crystal, 12 cm in length, is doubly-terminated and twinned, superbly gem, and it is perched on a cluster of other calcite crystals. The large crystal has cognac colored terminations and a light yellow-golden color in the center that is not typical of Elmwood to my eye. All tips are very gemmy, and the overall effect of this piece is like that of a sculpture, 3-dimensional and engaging to the eyes. Old material from the 1980s. Valued $2000-3000
