Item Description
Dramatic, unusual and classic large OLD-TIME calcite from the famous mines at Santa Eulalia. Sharp, lustrous, translucent dogtooth calcite scalenohedrons, along with very uncommon smaller calcite rhombs are classically included with hematite. Striking, preferential secondary overgrowths of botryoidal goethite or hematite are a fantastic accent. Pristine. The periphery wear on the back is out-of-sight. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2432 and acquired from Brad van Scriver in the Spring of 1962, the year Brad became a full-time mineral dealer. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Specimens of this old-time style and quality are RARE from Santa Eulalia.
