Calcite (classic "phantom" crystals)

These wonderful and unique Calcites date back to the early 1980s and stand out as some of the most attractive examples of the species from any locality in Mexico. This small cabinet sized specimens features fine quality, sharp, well-formed, gemmy golden colored, trigonal crystals of Calcite which feature eye-catching internal "phantom" of rich red and brownish-red hues, creating a fantastic contrast of color. The largest Calcite measures 3.3 cm. No matrix on the piece, so it's solid Calcite, with only minimal roughness around the periphery where it was detached from the pocket wall. These pieces are very hard to find on the market now, and are celebrated by both Mexican mineral collectors and Calcite collectors for their special coloring, form and the wonderful "phantoms".
