Item Description
Sharp and gemmy disc-shaped crystals of amber-colored calcite, from an aberrant find around 2003 or so in a coal mine find in Hubei province. These were instantly "modern Chinese classics" and sold out rapidly. This small cabinet cluster is exceptionally gemmy for the material. It is nearly pristine, with just a few tiny dings. Much of this material was heavily damaged as it was not collected by the usual mineral people experts in extraction, and was sold and handled roughly at the time. Today, we see few turn up for sale. Even with all the calcite from China, these are immediately recognizable! Large crystal to 4.5 cm.
