A wonderful and pristine matrix calcite specimen from this classic Ohio locale. The striking 6.8 cm, doubly terminated scalenohedron crystal has rich golden-amber color and is dramatically set on the undulating limestone matrix covered with smaller dogtooth calcites. The waxy lustre complements the frosted stepped-growth faces and really adds character to this exceptional piece. The translucent crystal glows when backlit. Outstanding and classic calcite from the Rob Lavinsky Collection (yes, purchased long ago as a teenager in Ohio!). Specimens of this quality haven't been available for decades and only come from recycled collections. It displays beautifully without aid.
