Malmberget, Sweden is the source of some of the most iconic examples of Calcite ever found. The best of these crystals are notably attractive in terms of their beautiful scalenohedral crystal form along with excellent transparency and beautiful color. This piece is a fairly good reference specimen of the older material featuring a group tabular, gemmy soft yellow color Calcite crystal free of matrix. Now the piece is by no means damage free, as there are some cleavage marks on the edges, but the front and back are crystallized. This particular style featuring is certainly rare on the market, as you almost never seen flattened crystals like this from Malmberget, so if you collect Calcite, it's a nice pickup to add to your collection. The piece comes from the collection of Peter Lyckberg, who was responsible for collecting the finest examples of this material years ago.
