There are countless localities where Calcite is found in the Midwestern United States, but the classic pieces from North Vernon, Indiana are certainly among the most distinctive. The attractive and unique habit combined with the beautiful distinctive color makes these pieces instantly recognizable. This robust miniature sized specimen features a fine quality, gemmy, beautiful saturated golden colored, modified trigonal crystal with a lovely resinous luster, free of matrix. On the display side, the crystal is undamaged, but it's not complete on the back. A really lovely example of this classic material, which is not nearly as easy to find on the market as it as opposed to 15 years ago.
