Calcite (classic material)

Item Description

A classic Tsumeb Calcite composed of a large predominant compressed rhombic crystal that is highlighted by hundreds if not thousands of tiny, but very sharp and distinct stepped overgrowth faces on the front / display side. The luster is glistening with a reflective vitreous quality, but it's best seen when the piece is rotated in the light. A few additional accenting Calcite crystals can be seen at the base of the piece. Minor matrix is present on the bottom of the specimen. A slight pinkish hue can be seen, which looks best in sunlight, perhaps from a slight content of either manganese or cobalt. The far edges of the Calcites are notably gemmy (nearly transparent), and for the most part, the piece is in excellent condition, as the only imperfections are on the underside of the piece where it was removed from the pocket wall. A great small cabinet display specimen to add to any collection of Calcites or Tsumeb minerals. Priced at $950 in the inventory.
