The renowned Elmwood Mine in Tennessee for many years has given collectors world-class Calcites, regarded by many in the top tiers of the species, as the best crystals are amazingly gemmy, with superb form and color. One of my favorite facts about this mine is that there are only a handful of minerals found there, but they remain as some the most recognizable crystallized specimens of their respective species in the world. This attractive piece is an aesthetic group of very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, orange-gold to soft beige-yellow colored scalenohedral crystals of Calcite measuring up to 9.2 cm, with minor associated Dolomite on the base. Very good quality, no major damage, but there are some small areas of roughness here and there.
