Calcite (classic locality)

Item Description

A classic Tsumeb Calcite specimen featuring a coverage of stark white, notably "curved" compressed rhombs measuring up to 1.8 cm across, with a tiny bit of associated stark green acicular Malachite on matrix. The Calcites have a wonderfully reflective luster and good sharp, well-formed faces. There are some areas of roughness, but overall the piece is in good shape and presents well from a few angles.
This piece comes from the collection of John Dagenais (#JD-867), a collector from the Pacific Northwest. John started collecting in 1969 and progressed to micromounting, and later built suites of specimens from the Chuquicamata Mine in Chile, the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia, the Majuba Hill Mine in Nevada, the Black Pine Mine in Montana and the Tintic District in Utah, among other places.
