Item Description
Bisbee is one of the great localities, not only in Arizona, but all of the US. This historic mining district is most famous for its secondary ore minerals (mostly copper species), but it has also produced some really attractive Calcites in a wide array of styles and colors. This piece is a fine quality, full cabinet sized display specimen from the famous Cole Mine (Cole Shaft) featuring many resinous, soft golden colored, trigonal crystals of gemmy/translucent Calcite with tiny stepped faces that can be seen all over, sitting on oxidized matrix. Nearly all of the Calcites are undamaged, the only real roughness can be seen around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. A choice big showy specimen of this classic and desirable material from this historic locality.
From the collection of Brian Kosnar, valued $1,750.
