Item Description
A aesthetic old-time cluster of gem nailhead spar calcite crystals from the famous iron mine at Egrement. The crystals, to 3.5 cm, have classic trigonal form, exceptional glassiness, high luster and are dramatically clustered together on the mounded matrix. All seven of the primary crystals are pristine. The noted broken crystals on the matrix are certainly only a modest detraction. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1525 and acquired in the 1960s from Burminco. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Undoubtedly over 100 years old. This excellent old-timer has a beautiful 360-degree display.
