Item Description

A showy and excellent CABINET calcite specimen from the well-known Acushnet Quarry of Massachusetts and the George Feist Collection. The crystals are lustrous, translucent and are lightly frosted. Crystal types include simple rhombohedrons and complex, modified rhombs. The large, simple rhomb is 5.5 cm across. A bit of modest periphery wear and bruising are noted, but are minor detractions. Calcites are seldom available from this locale. The accompanying card states that the piece was collected by Polaroid Corporation Principal Engineer Leroy Vargas, in February, 1987 on the 4 Level, North Face. Excellent collecting details from this now defunct locale. Valued at $250 for quality, size and relative rarity for the locale.
