A classic calcite crystal from the famous Tri-State District. This dramatic, old-time crystal is very glassy, transparent to translucent and has beautiful amber color. The scalenohedron has a nifty modified termination. The highly lustrous crystal faces have pronounced stepped-growth or are rippled, which adds character. Complete all-around and pristine, which is rare for these old-time soft specimens. A very fine and highly representative example of the species and historic locale. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!! These are uncommon on the market now, seen only in a few old collections, and are true Midwest classics from the Tri-state mining heyday (1930s-1950s). Ex Jaime Bird Collection.
