This specimen is a wonderfully gemmy, slender calcite from the famous find at Malmberget colelcted now over 30 years ago, collected by Peter Lyckberg in 1988 in a lucky find. An interesting feature of this piece are a few second-generation crystals growing on the surface of the crystal that give it a more complex surface than most of these had. The color on this crystal is as intense as they get, and we have seen many to compare to - this one is special. This is complete and pristine from damage, although with a small contact where another crystal grew on the left side, and a small ingrown matrix bit in the back. These are immediately recognizable and considered "precious" among many colelctors, and relatively few came out of this quality. The calcite is a deep amber color and is quite transparent ! An old classic, seldom seen. Valued $1500-2000. As a former lifelng calcite collector, I have to say these were always a Holy Grail to obtain. They are simply unavailable on the general market.
