Item Description

Sharp, well-formed calcite specimens are very uncommon compared to the excellent baryte specimens produced by this well-known niobium-bearing deposit. This is an impressive, large and sharp, two-sided, tabular crystal. The iron oxide-tinted front is very glassy and lustrous, transparent to translucent and has sharply terminated edges. The back is strikingly different! Here iron oxides coat and are included in the lightly etched crystal faces. The rich dusting of iridescent micro pyrites along the edges adds much pizzazz to this side. The noted small edge bruise shared by both sides is certainly only a modest detraction to this excellent and uncommon example from the Steven Chamberlain and Robert Nowakowsky Collections.
