Item Description

A nifty and totally different looking pair of rare, calcite "cave pearls" or pisolites from a historic lead mining district in Sardinia. Pisolites are spheroidal, concentric concretions, generally of calcium carbonate, more than 2 mm in diameter. The larger, nubby, elongated pisolite looks like a reptile or dinosaur egg and the smaller is nearly a perfect, smooth sphere. VERY rare in this form from this locality. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collectin and obtained in 1980.
