Item Description
Dramatically exotic cave calcite from this well-known extinct Utah Au-Ag-Zn-Pb-Cu mining district. Fantastic sculptural helectites, that look like worms are attached to the side of the stalactite stalk at 90 degrees. The piece is composed of intensely sparkly, translucent, tiny intergrown calcite rhombohedrons. Attachments on the stalactite and some of the helectites have no impact on the overall surreal quality of this piece. The helectites have defied gravity. Very modest pink fluorescence. Ophir is well-known for such pieces and this is an outstanding example.
