Item Description

An attractive miniature sized specimen from the famous Minerva #1 Mine in Southern Illinois featuring very sharp, well-formed, gemmy, golden colored scalenohedral crystals of Calcite which have formed a ''cast'' after preexisting Fluorite. If you flip the piece over, you can see the indentation of the preexisting Fluorite cube, and there's actually a tiny bit of gemmy blue-purple Fluorite remaining in one of the corners. These are rare in my experience, and very attractive in person. For reference, the largest Calcite crystal measures 4.2 cm long. This locality is well known for its Fluorite specimens, though they are few and far between on the market these days. This area is completely closed down and will never produce these specimens again.
