Item Description

I'm sure everybody is familiar with various Amethyst cathedrals and flowers found at multiple localities in Rio Grande do Sul, but the Calcites are just as interesting and attractive, as they are found in a wide array of habits and styles. The little town of Frederico Westphalen in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil is the source of some of the most distinctive twinned Calcite crystals from anywhere in the state. This small miniature / toenail sized piece features a wonderful, very gemmy, colorless, sharp, lustrous "butterfly-twinned" Calcite crystal perched atop a thin bit of matrix. There are a few contacts on the twin, so it's not 100% pristine, but it's very gemmy in areas (WATER CLEAR) and the overall form is still very eye-catching. If you're a fan of worldwide Calcites or twinned crystals, don't miss out on this one.
