Item Description
A classic and desirable calcite crystal style from the historic Joplin Field of the Tri-State District - the "bishop's cap" twin. The different sized sharp textbook terminations of this impressive, stout crystal enhance the gorgeous, rich golden-amber color of this highly lustrous, gemmy to translucent crystal. Adding pizzazz, the complex faces are preferentially glass smooth to stepped-growth to lightly etched. Complete all-around and in great shape, with only a small bruise on one tip and along the outward prism edges. The form, rich color and gemminess of this exceptional old-timer are outstanding. Fairly valued at $1250-1500. RARE on the market in this size and quality. Ex Dr. Gary Hanson Collection. Good timing with the current Mineralogical Record Special Issue of the Tri-State District just coming out.
