Item Description

Dal'negorsk has definitely become one of the premier contemporary specimen producing localities around. The area has managed to produce amazing quality sulfides and Calcites that do not receive the appreciation they deserve. The piece is hosts a LARGE, GEM/gemmy, lustrous, colorless, compressed rhombohedron of Calcite measuring 7.4 cm across aesthetically sitting atop a thin slab of matrix. Great quality, and large for the locality. You don't see isolated crystals on matrix like this from Dal'negorsk, and this is definitely an older specimen, probably circa early 1990s. Great quality, despite a bit of edge wear, and better than most I've offered recently. From an old East Coast collection, with dealer labels from Larry Conklin and Collector's Edge. Valued at $1000.
