Item Description
The famous Calcites from Malmberget, Sweden are among the most iconic examples of the species ever found. This piece is a decent reference specimen of the older material featuring a group of sharp, well-formed, gemmy scalenohedra measuring up to 2.3 cm long on a thin layer of matrix. These crystals have the distinction of showing a lovely golden-amber color at the base, but are notably colorless at the terminations. Now the piece is by no means damage free, as many crystals are unfortunately cleaved, but several crystals are terminated. This particular style featuring the bi-colored crystals is certainly rare on the market, and in general from Malmberget, so if you collect Calcite, it's a nice pickup to add to your collection.
