Item Description

A beautiful cluster of glassy, well-striated, flattened calcite disks is aesthetically set on large matrix covered with a drusy quartz rind on this very fine and classic combination old-timer from the famous mines at Guanajuato. The calcites are up to 2.9 cm across. The piece dates to prior to 1900, when Bement sold his 12500 piece collection to J.P. Morgan. Orange fluorescence. Ex Bement and American Museum Collections (# 6779) and Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued at $850.
