Item Description

A dramatic large calcite specimen from the famous Sweetwater Mine and the Howard Belsky Collection. Lustrous, translucent, amber calcite scalenohedrons are aesthetically scattered on the very imposing, sculptural matrix of brecciated limestone. The glassy calcites reached 7.1 cm and this one is doubly terminated. The breccia fragments are partially coated with dolomite rhombs and are attractively peppered with sparkly, brassy, chalcopyrite crystals. Very nearly pristine, with only trivial bruising to the large calcite. Certainly not a detraction. Choice and showy large material, it displays famously from either side.
