Item Description

It should be noted that this specimen came labeled as coming from Naica, but none of us have seen this particular habit or color from this area, and we are much more inclined to believe it's from Concepción del Oro (although there is a slight chance it could be from Charcas). With that said, it's a very attractive, robust, showy display specimen featuring plenty of fine quality, sharp, lustrous, trigonal crystals of Calcite with a noteworthy and rarely seen seafoam green hue. The piece is nearly 100% solid Calcite, with only a bit of attached matrix at the base. The largest individual Calcite roughly measures 3.0 cm, but it's hard to isolate a single crystal. For the most part, the piece is in good condition, thought a few abrasions can be seen here and there. If you're a fan of Calcites, Mexican minerals or just colorful display pieces, this is an attractive and overall good quality specimen for any collection. Valued at $550 in the inventory.
