The basalt flows of the Deccan Plateau in India have produced no lack of interesting and wonderful specimens over the years, Calcites certainly among them. These attractive, gemmy to translulcent Calcites have very good luster and interesting, complex habit (of course they are complex, they are Calcites). The largest is about 1.4 cm long, and both the matrix and some of the smaller Calcites are coated with a sugary, sparkly quartz
