Item Description

A rare style for the Denton Mine with lovely gems of scalenohedral calcite decorating a contrasting deep purple, nicely zoned fluorite cluster! The Calcite covers only enough of the Fluorite to reveal its perfectly formed, sharp cubes. Fluorite cubes are up to 2.6cm on edge and some of the crystals show classic Denton Mine hoppers as well as a multitude of small, geometric growth hillocks. Tan to pale amber Calcite crystals are a maximum of 2cm in length and are very lustrous! Many of the Calcite crystals are doubly terminated and only one crystal at the bottom of the piece is incomplete and not noticeable. A superb small cabinet combination specimen from the Ross Lillie collection and self-collected by him in July of 1983 as noted on his label. This piece looks good from every angle as the photos indicate. Unusual for the district in the overall presentation and style. Ex. Lillie (#1096) and Campbell collections.
