Calcite and Chrysocolla

A rich, colorful and rare small cabinet combination from this well-known New Jersey traprock basalt quarry - the Chimney Rock Quarry. Vivid, multi-hued turquoise-blue chrysocolla dominates one side of the sculptural small cabinet. The rest of the piece is covered with densely intergrown, two-toned calcite scalenohedrons. An impressive, well-placed, 3.1 cm, doubly terminated scalenohedron at the crest dramatically dominates the calcite field. Translucent calcite, with satin luster faces is beautifully accented by the 1.5 cm, doubly terminated side car crystal attached to one side. The back tip of the large calcite is cleaved, but is out-of-sight in the primary display view. The bit of visible periphery wear to the right side of the calcite field is a modest detraction. Vivid pink LW UV calcite fluorescence. A rare style, rich, high quality combination from the noted locale.
