Calcite and Apophyllite (rare combo)

Calcite and apophyllite combinations of this size and quality are very uncommon from this large open pit mine, noted for fine brucite specimens. Both sides of the matrix are covered with very glassy, transparent to translucent, pseudocubic apophyllite crystals. The two striking, intergrown calcite rhombs really accentuate this showy and excellent large piece. The pristine, color-zoned, translucent rhombs, to 2.7 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm, have lightly frosted faces. A bit of bruising to the apophyllite field on the front at the top noted, but certainly has negligible impact to the fine quality of this uncommon two-sided combination.
