Item Description
This is a showy and fine quality, three-dimensional display specimen of the famous Calcites from Naica featuring multiple robust soft white colored rhombohedra measuring up to 2.3 cm across, beautifully covering the display side of the piece. The Calcites seem to have formed in a multi-generational growth as there are banded lines that transition from more translucent to opaque in areas. The centers of the rhombs seem to have the best optical clarity, while the outer portions are more opaque. Minor Sphalerite, Galena and Quartz can be seen on the reverse side of the specimen. A fine quality and highly displayable specimen of this old (probably mined circa 1970s) material from this famous locality.
