Calcite

These specimen are no longer being mined, and are rather difficult to find on the market now, even with Chinese dealers. This piece features a stout, very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, rich golden color compressed scalenohedral crystal of Calcite with a few accenting Calcite crystals sitting on a thin layer of matrix. The main Calcite is complete all the way around, but there are a few minor nicks that can be seen, so it's not 100% pristine, but it's close. I love this almost "wet" limpid luster of the Calcite and it glows with color when backlit. A classic representation from this well known discovery at Tieshan from several years ago.
