Charming cluster of Calcite crystals from the greatest of all mines, Tsumeb. Complexity in form is often a trademark of Calcites, and these highly modifed, pillow-shaped rhombs deliver just that. Not only are the terminations modified to create the pillow-like effect, but they are white and translucent. This contrasts nicely with the majority of the crystals, which are gemmy and alabaster-colored. This variation in growth, along with the very attractive manner is which the Calcites are stacked, creates a rather engaging aesthetic. This choice miniature was #12,038 in Kay's collection, acquired in 1989.
