Item Description

A jewel-like calcite specimen of glassy luster, transparency, and striking brightness, from the classic mines here that hit their heyday in the late 1800s. This fine specimen has crystals to 1.5 inches or 3.5 cm, and is nearly pristine except for only VERY trivial wear at the periphery. This is likely 100 years old, in any case, so a few dngs can be forgiven - but there is no major damage or defect to those imposing inch-plus crystals. In person, this is much more brilliantly lustrous and gemmy, and is a fine example of this classic calcite style from England. Valued $2000-ish From an old private collection, just obtained.
